The Southern AIDS Coalition (SAC) attempts to fight HIV disease within the context of high rates of poverty, abundant lack of adequate insurance, poor health care infrastructure, lowest rankings in overall access to health care, racial disparities, and startling rates of sexually transmitted diseases in the region. The lack of adequate resources to support effective interventions and services continues to compound these issues. SAC's mission is to promote accessible and high quality systems of HIV and STD prevention, care and treatment, and housing throughout the South. SAC is committed to utilizing a broad-based coalition of people living with HIV/AIDS, advocates, elected and appointed officials, community and government agencies, and industry partners to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to impact the HIV epidemic in the South.
