sac projects
A Ford Foundation grant builds the functioning capacity of the Southern AIDS Coalition. This project will organize an existing movement across the South to influence public policy, funding, and grassroots advocacy to address a rapidly increasing southern HIV epidemic. Throughout this project, SAC will work with the National AIDS Fund's Southern REACH grantees, faith-based programs, state and local government HIV-related programs, people living with HIV, federally-funded clinics, and community-based organizations involved in prevention, care, treatment and housing for those at risk of or living with HIV disease.
A Southern REACH Initiative will establish the SAC Access Advocate Network Leadership Council, comprised of partner agencies in each of the nine Southern REACH Initiative states. This council will create the opportunity for each state to share experiences as well to collectively learn about potential mainstream resources and state revenues that can further the capacity to test for and prevent new HIV infections and to provide education, treatment, services, and housing for those living with HIV disease.
